Because this is the first time to each other to meet. I was surprised at her action. And she was followed by detective. So she just wanted the detective to follow the man. And because of her, Nick was shot by someone and was dangerd by someone. For example he was pushed to the road a lot of car were running and it was narrow escape. Fortunately, he didn't be injurd and not shot. But he was afraid of many things. At last the criminal was found. If I am in Nick's place, I didn't come close to the woman whose name is Jan but it was not true her name, and her true name was Meg Hutson. She was one of the millionaires. But I learned through this book that I had better not to come close to strange woman.

I like this book, too. I recommend that you read lots of books in this series. "The Monkey's Paw" is also pretty good.
